In the noextreme extent of his personal guilt and the scars that don't disappear overnight. It is by this that Mark views war differently. At first, the war was a jobause of war that causes Mark to have a of him losing vel, Mark Walsh, an accomplished war photographer, is always located either near or in a war. It is the cma e events. It is through Mark that sees the his friend and leaving him behind meant that he became a different person coming downall the events/etaught him that death is fate, pre-determined, and that there was nothing that he as a doctor, in the Harir cave, could do about it.The war has an impact on his life, for him to view it differentlyxperiences that caused guilt in Mark, that had made his views on war feel as a murder scene. "To feel guilt in war only have a conscience, a quality to be admired" (Pg 156).

Talzani is another character in the novel that has been affected in someway for him to view war differently. The war has , by almost closingthat mountain. Mark visualizes himself at fault in every way possible, in the death, in losing Colin in the river and not being able to speak about thbreakdown from the death of his friend Colin. "I didn't know what to do, and he was just dying, dying forever…"(Pg ). The death had a dramatic effect on his life and had changed his views on war. The trau, taking photographs, but it wasn't until the end of himself off for feeling for the dead.Talzani now gets patient after patients that have been wounded from the war, and feels nothing apart from knowing that it is their own fault that they are in that position. "…all you war people think you're immortalprobably not good for morale to see a colleague end up in Harir cave" (Pg ).Talzani is a Kurd, and by being a Kurds have been brought up fighting wars. "It's been a lifetime of war" (pg ). Being through all of these experiences has made Talzani view war in a negative attitude, for he now believes that those who chose to go to war are putting themselves at risk and nobody is to be blamed for the consequences that occur. This is linked directly to his views on war itself, for he once thought that war was about winning, but now is about losing innocent people, like Colin who once had a wife and a child to come.

Joaquin is similar in the sense that he deals with patients the same way Talzani does, but mentally. He teaches his patients "to forget history… because it tries to explain why things happen" (Pg 15). The patients, who need help in the institute, were those who had found their conscience, for without a conscience there is nothing to restore. Joaquin believes that war is caused by nothing "we killed because we could. That was the reason" (pg 15). He views war differently by his personal experience and by his patients. Mark also Like , he, too, escaped death and is a survivor who must live with the scares that cannot be healed. His views of how things happen in war are "quite simply, there seem to be no reason, everything appears to happen by chance" (pg 18), and that way is the way Joaquin now views war, by chance.

The novel addresses how the views of war have changed for each character. We are shown the pain and suffering of the characters associated with experiences in war and also how those experiences are dealt with to view war differently. Each character has a different effect from the war and views it differently from their personal experiences.

SCARFACE a crime epic

The crime epic SCARFACEis remembered as arguable the best gangster film of all time.Film critic Geeky Marcus of NaturalBornViewers.com does the movie an injustice in his review.GeekyMarcus claims that SCARFACE is a simply movie about thugs and lacks depth and meaning. He complains that vulgar language and lack of character development plague the movie. He also contends that Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee played by Al Pacino, does not contain the brain capacity to be capable ofheading an international drug ring.Geeky Marcus' review is simply badmouthing a good movie with no support to his claims.Through the movie SCARFACE, writer Oliver Stone gives the viewer a brutally honest peak into the gangster world ofcocaine trafficking and the rise of a man who comes from nothing and strives to gain everything.

Tony Montana flees Castro and comes to the states to live out the American dream.Montana and friend Manny are soon involved in crime when they murder a politician/drug dealer for crime lord Frank Lopez in exchange for green cards. The assassination of this rival drug dealer puts them on Lopez's payroll and they are soon running cocaine deals as middlemen. After a business deal gone bad and a dispute over Lopez's wife, Lopez attempts to have Montana killed.Being the type of man that does not go out without a fight, Montana kills the would-be assassins and murders Lopez. He then marries Lopez's wife and becomes the biggest drug lord in Florida.

As indicated by Geeky Marcus, Montana does use profane language, however, it is languageappropriate for a Cuban refugee who murders people and sells cocaine.Al Pacino, with cursing and a thick Cuban accent, plays the part of Montana to perfection. Giving Montana a tough, grimy aspect, not seen in other gangsters of such movies as Goodfellas and Godfather,Pacino gives the most outstanding performance of his career and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award.

SCARFACE is not a simple, in orchestrated movie about thugs. The film depicts the essence of the American dream.Montana did not take the typical, domestic approach to success in this country. He knew he wouldn't make good money working as a dishwasher or busboy, so he worked hard in the underworld and did what was necessary to become wealthy.Immigrants come to America with the dream of getting rich. This is exactly what Tony Montana did.

Geeky Marcus contends that SCARFACE is shallow and lacks character depth.I strongly disagree.Montana is a fascinating character. He is extremely violent yet cares for his wife and sister. He is uneducated but street smart and good with numbers. He is impulsive yet his actions make sense and he is a straight forward man who says what he means.

Geeky Marcus believes that an uneducated immigrant would not be able to head a crime syndicate of this magnitude.Montana did not attend school, however, he holds the street smarts needed to make money in the criminal world. Montana has a business oriented mind and is always trying to advance his success.A college education is not necessary to be an entrepreneur and know how to make money.Montana acts on instinct and follows his heart and it usually leads him where he wants to be.

Filled with intense action scenes and unbearable tension, this film gives the viewer a look at the American cocaine underworld and an immigrant who strives to achieve the American dream by any means necessary.Straying from the typical gangster genre, Stones script offers good character development and originality.Montana does a complete one-hundred and eighty degree turn in his life and does the best he can to manage it.The profane language used by Montana is realistic and adds a certain grittiness to the character. As Tony Montana rises from nothing to become the most powerful man in Florida he proves that it is possible to achieve the American dream. A great storyline and excellent acting make SCARFACE aninnate experience.

Please note that this sample paper on scarface is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. What is the role of accounting and financial decision making in Business? Why is essential to consider accounting data in relation to other factors in other decisions in all situations.

The word ACCOUNTING can firstly be defined as the collection, recording, compiling and forecasting of financial information.

There are two different strands in accounting, and these are FINANCIAL accounting and MANAGEMENT accounting. Financial accounting has information about reports of the past, it can be used by external users, it needs to be reliable, accurate and consistent, it is ruled by accounting conventions and legal requirements, and it covers the company as a whole.

Management accounting focuses on the present and the future of the company, it is purely for internal users, it is usually easy to use, relevant and up-to-date, and it covers the departments and divisions rather than the company as a whole.

The first part of accounting is the COLLECTION of the data. This data is collected from the business transactions which are the

ɨ Buying and selling of goods and services

ɨ Sales invoices, purchase invoices

ɨ Statements, credit notes

ɨ Remittance advice notes, cheque receipts

The second part is the RECORDING of the data. This process is done with double entry, using the accounting equation and the conventions or principles. The information is recorded in Daybooks, books of original data, sales purchase ledgers, and nominal ledgers.

The third part is the COMPILING of information which from various accounting books the trial balance is extracted to allow for the formation of the financial statements and therefore the ratio analysis. It uses the data to cost products and services.

Finally the final part is the FORECASTING, which uses historical data to draw up forecasts. It is normally in the form of budgets, variance analysis, cash flow forecasts, and break-even analysis.

So overall we can see that accounting and financial decisions play a big part and need to be put into consideration in the decision making in business. For example, the forecasting is very important to see where the company is and based on this how it feels that it will do in the future.

Accounting data is extremely important in the internally within the business as previously mentioned, and needs to be considered in relation to other factors in other decisions. When a decision needs to be made if the accounting data is not even put into consideration, then it could lead to very bad consequences. For example, if the company builds up strategies and has various aims, they may coincide with the accounting data for example; their budget does not allow them to do what they intend to do. So whenever aims and objectives are considered, the accounting data needs to be considered to see whether it is firstly possible to do any of their proposed plans.

Accounting data is also very useful for external users who may have an interest in what is happening to the company. For example, the first type of people who likely to want to know are the shareholders of the business to see how well the business is performing and whether it is still worth investing in the business. Other types of people are the government to see that accounts are done correctly and also the banks who fund the company with loans, overdrafts etc. to see where the company is going and whether it has sufficient finances to succeed. For example, a business may want to invest in something and may want the financial backing of their bank. The bank would want to see their accounting data to see whether the business is truly capable of returning the money to the bank when the bank requests it.

So overall we can get a clear picture that it is essential to consider accounting data in relation to other factors when a company is making other decisions.

I remember my first fire victim. It was a good fire. It charred out the

whole apartment. After its over, everyones overhauling. That means pulling

down the ceiling and walls, to find and put out any hidden fire thats left.

Then the captain of the squad looks over at me. He says, Give them a hand

with the body. Im thinking, What the hell is he talking about? What body?

Im looking around and I dont see anything. Hes getting impatient. He says

it again. Come on! Give them a hand with the body!. I say Okay. Wheres it

at? He says, Right over there. So I look on the floor and heres this

mound of charcoal. It wasnt the body. It was the embers and all the burnt

wood and debris. The body was underneath. It turned out she was a woman,

burnt beyond recognition. Im looking at this thing. Its the first time

Ive ever been face-to-face with a body in this state. I dont know what

the hell Im supposed to do. This guy on the other end says, Okay, we got

her over here. You grab her legs . On the count of three, we get her in the

body bag. So one, two, three, I lift. Guess what happens? The leg falls

through my hands; thats how bad she was. I got her flesh in my hands, but

her leg bone itself fell down. Now we cant get her in the bag because the

leg is dragging. He says, Then grab her other leg, okay? Im doing this

and Im saying to myself, Please lord, dont let me throw up right here.

Wait until these guys get the bag out of here, and Ill get sick in the

corner. It was a sobering experience. But since that time, there is nothing

I can see that will even faze me. At fires and shootings and car wrecks,

Ive seen the human body in every conceivable form. Ive learned to leave it

at work and not take it home. For me, its always been easy. Maybe theres

something psychologically wrong with me, but I just dont carry it with me.

I didnt cause these terrible things to happen. I can only make things

better, and sometimes I cant do that. No matter how hard you try, you cant

save everyone. Death is there. Its just there. If you want to put it that

way, death is part of life.

We had a car accident my second year on the job. My first multiple fatality.

Sometime after midnight, a small Honda traveling east crashed through a center

divider and into the westbound traffic. In our city, we dont have the concrete

center divider. We have a real thick metal cable that runs lengthwise, and there

is chain-link fencing that runs along with it. It can be very unforgiving. We

call it the guillotine. And thats exactly what it turned out to be right here.

Of the four guys in this Honda, it decapitated one guy sitting in the back seat.

That wasnt our only victim. We were the first engine company on-scene, and we

had bodies strewn all over the place. On the other side of the freeway, this car

had caused a really terrible pileup. My captain got off the rig and told me,

Okay. Youre our triage guy. Which means that now Im God. I walk around and

sort through the patients. I determine which of them can be salvaged. I

determine which cant. In this case we had twelve patients, and I triaged them

all. Within about thirty seconds, maybe a minute, I determined who needed

hospital care immediately, or if they could wait, or if there was no point

in sending them at all. Thats how it is. If somebody isnt breathing then,

you gotta move on. You have eleven other people who need your help. Its a pretty

large responsibility, especially when youve only got two years on. But it you

know your job, you can handle it. These people are counting on you for their

lives. You cant say Hey, I cant deal with this. Thats not fair to them.

You signed on to help them. Thats the whole reason you wanted to be a fireman.

Now at this moment they need you more than ever. It isnt time to be young.

The application deadlines were fast approaching. For the past few days, I had been pondering over that one thing which had had a significant influence on me but was unable to arrive at a conclusion. In sheer desperation, I hit my tennis ball against the wall. It immediately bounced back. The second time, I hit it even harder. The third time it brought a message back with it. I had found the greatest influence on my life. It was this yellow, two and a half inch wide ball.

Our relationship began on my seventh birthday when my father gifted it to me along with a tennis racquet. Strangely, the umpteen wall practice sessions had put me into the habit of hitting the ball against the doors and walls of my room. Other than driving my mother up the wall every time she heard the thump of the ball, it served many purposes.

Do my essay on Indicate something that has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence. CHEAP !

As is the case with all teenagers, I have often experienced feelings of frustration and powerlessness. Hitting the ball hard against the walls of my room has become an effective way of letting off steam and calming my frazzled nerves. In times of despair and disappointment, disillusionment and anxiety, I have felt a strange kind of security with my tennis ball.

Many of my accomplishments in school can be credited to this mindless diversion. It was during one of those hitting sessions that the idea of having a separate Politics and In-Depth section for my school magazine 'Vasant Parag' was born. The idea of a Tactile Book for the Blind students also took roots here. Little did my opponents know that most of the content for my inter-school debates was thought of while tossing the ball.

As I gaze intently at the motion of the ball, I think I might have acquired one of my biggest qualities from it. Like the ball, I have learnt to bounce back from every difficult situation in life. I had almost decided to give up debating after stuttering through my first extempore debate. As I sat alone in my room hitting the ball, I realized that giving up was not the solution. I needed to read more extensively on current affairs and learn how to think on my feet.

During my umpteen encounters with the ball, often I had to run very fast to hit it and avoid losing a point. One Saturday morning, while playing with my father when I dived instantly to hit the ball to win the set, it dawned on me that you can succeed only if you try really, really hard. Nothing is impossible. Nothing is beyond our capabilities. All we have to do is to have that passion, that burning desire to succeed.

Newton's third law had taught me that to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. And for all practical purposes, I got to see it during my ball game sessions. If I hit the ball powerfully on the wall it bounced back with an equal force and if I hit it lightly, it would simply fall flat. When I found the new sections introduced by me in the school magazine lacking in content and creativity, I realized my efforts didn't have sufficient force. I organized a creative writing workshop and identified students who would spice up the section. And soon I was out with two sections that were appreciated by all. Ever since, I have not hesitated to use all my force to accomplish my goals.

Over the years this ball has become my friend, philosopher and guide. It has taught me, subtly, to think rationally, to never give up hope and to strive harder to attain the unattainable!

"Endless Summer"

It's a very cold, late night in the Denny's parking lot. I glance at my watch to see that it's 415am. "Damn. We've been out here for 4 hours and all we've seen is one race. One damn race!" I think to myself. As I stand here with my friends shooting the breeze about a lot of things, I can't help but think to myself how different this whole summer ended to how it started.

For myself, the summer couldn't have started out any better. The days were longer, the weather was warmer, and the racing was over the top. It seemed like everyday was designated "race night" by the street racing gods. It seemed like everyone in the whole world showed up to come to the races, be it either to spectate, race, or just to belong. Indeed, this summer offered nothing but love to fans of the scene in ways you couldn't imagine.

Common logic would state that summertime shouldn't be any different than the other seasons of the year, except for weather. But even though that may be the case, people in the scene notice that the best racing action is still reserved for those summer months. It is that time of the year where everyone gathers in hordes to participate. The most interesting part about the whole affair is that most people don't race. So why would they show up almost every night to be at the races?

Order custom research paper on Street Racing

Well before I can answer that, we have to go back to the beginning of the summer season. People are just getting out of school for the summer, and all they remember is that school has robbed them of 8- months of their lives that they can't get back. Stressing about social problems that they may have in their family, at school, at work, or relationships. Instead of continuing that stress throughout the year, they take the initiative to enjoy the rest of it. The thing about racing is that you don't have to worry about anything really. It's an outlet to problems that we can be facing in our lives, and because it doesn't ask for anything in return except to enjoy yourselves, it can be a big draw to people looking to get away from all the fuss. You don't even have to participate in racing to have a good time. Watching alone is worth going. Especially when you can be out with your peers and friends in a setting that you know and understand. A place where people can just be themselves and converse about things that they like about life or things that might be bothering them.

Of course, that is just for the spectators of the scene. For those few who enjoy the adrenaline rush that comes when you're barreling down a straightaway as fast as you can, the racing scene is a lifesaver. You don't have to pay admission to race, you don't have to wait for hours on end to get 5 runs in a night, and you don't have to put up with the attitude that some race promoters take to young people racing in general. The ability to just get away from it all is very alluring, especially to those who race themselves. Nothing is better than being able to prove to those around you just how much time and effort you have put into your vehicle, to get it to spank up on all would be contenders to your title of "Fastest on the Streets."

What it all comes down to in the end I guess, is the reason summer holds just a special place in the racing communities hearts is that no other time of the year is like it. It has that uniqueness that one thirsts for all year. Those perfect times where everything just seems to come together. The crowds. The cars. The racing. The camaraderie. You can't get this anywhere else but summertime.

I glance back at my watch again. I think to myself, "I've just been out here 4 hours, and I have seen 0 racing action. 0." As this September finally winds down, I kind of feel sad in a way. I noticed the drop-off of the racing action since the beginning of this month, but tonight's occurrence just brought it close to home. "Summertime's over. That's it." As I say goodnight to my friends, I can't help but crack a smile and realized just how fun it was. I drive off towards home, remembering what would be my endless summer. I anxiously await its return back to the streets of San Diego.

The various changes presented in the texts studied have been made evident in many different ways. For example The National Picture by Geoff Parr, the change in Australians attitude to racial differences has been conveyed, primarily the joining together of Aboriginal Australians, and European Australians.

Their place among white society in Australia today has been presented in a photographic form, to show visual images of the artists thoughts on whatis believed to be reconciliation between the two races.

The idea is conveyed by a substitution of objects such as spears with surveying rods to show change over time, also the replacement of real animals with a skinned wallaby, and an esky, which today can be seen as a symbol of the typical Australian which has taken over indigenous cultures. This can be seen by the native aboriginal figures in the picture which appear to be fading into the background.

The portrayal of Lewis in Cosi by Louis Nowra shows his change and tolerance over time, and shows his gradual understanding and adaption to the settings in which he is placed, and shows his adjustments as he changes his perceptions and his way of thinking towards certain people, and most importantly, his views on life after his experiences.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on textual analysis

Lewis is placed in an environment which juxtaposes his so called normal , non-institutionalised world.

Lewiss perspectives on madness, himself, and what is important in his life is immediately challenged as he is placed in unfamiliar settings, and meets new and unique people, whom he has not encountered before.

Through the combined use of character development, dramatic structure, use of symbols, such as the darkened theatre, which represents the world of madness both in and out, in pitch black, or unknown.

This shows his journey of transformation and change of perspective towards his environment and those around him.

Various techniques are evident in Sky High by Hannah Roberts. Many symbols are used in the piece, and the use of a double persona suggest the contrasting perspectives between youth and age, with the clothesline being used as a symbol for change although its physical appearance remains unchanged. It also represents the carefree spirit of youth and acts as a form of sanctuary for the writer, as although the things around her change, the comfort of the old clothesline remains unchanged, still doing its job without any interference or thought from anybody.

The writer has provided two views of change to portray the effects of ageing and the inevitable depression and sadness which comes with it, as she explains, My hands, beginning to accumulate the lines, etched story of life in scars and wrinkles. This shows her discontent in the realised fact that she, like her surroundings is becoming older, which she realises helps her to see things in a new and different perspective.

Throughout The Matrix, the main character, Neos perspectives, beliefs, and values of the world are constantly transforming. This is portrayed through his character, who is seen to be the action-like hero on a journey of discovery, between illusion and reality. Various techniques are used throughout the film such as use of powerful names, eg Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus to indicate change in identity, also colour to show blandness and the harsh realism of The Matrix, such as the blackness of the ship and the whiteness of the matrix void. Costume also plays a big part in conveying messages to the audience, with the use of glasses which can be seen to convey a sense of mystery, and the black suits which are seen worn by the agents to show their robot-like or manufactured place in the film. These techniques are also used for the purpose of the audience, by taking us on Neos journey in The Matrix, to discover what is real and we find ourselves questioning whether change is real, or controlled by outside forces. It also helps to shape how we as an audience look at things from a different perspective to show how we and other people look at them, and how change can be conveyed through cinematography.
